Fall 2018
November 2018

Hello. And welcome to At the Center.

If you're like most businesses, this time of year is not just filled with holiday cheer and celebration, it's also filled with planning and goal setting for the year ahead.

And while you no doubt have a full-plate working in your business in that regard; the Chamber wants to provide you with some tools to help you work on your business.

To that end, I want to lift up four opportunities for your consideration as you are planning for the New Year.

First off, I'd invite you all to come to our annual Economic Forecast Breakfast, sponsored by Fulton Bank. This event, held on Friday, December 14 from 7:30 - 9:15 a.m., will, once again, feature Linda Duessel from Federated Investors and Dave Hanson from Fulton Financial Advisors sharing their practical takes on the status and future of our national and local economy and how it can affect your business in the coming year.

Secondly, on the political front, we're happy to host members of our local state delegation at our annual Legislative Issues Forum, Thursday, December 20, from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. With a new legislative session on the horizon, you'll hear what our legislators expect to be the priority issues in the coming year and, as importantly, have the opportunity to share what you think should be addressed to ensure your business success.

Third, as you plan the New Year you are no doubt assessing workforce recruitment and retention needs ... and, in this day and age, concerns. Be sure your company is in a competitive place to attract and keep employees by utilizing our Wage & Benefit Survey for your planning needs. With data from close to 200 companies across all industry sectors, this uniquely local publication is a very helpful tool in determining how you stack up in the hyper-competitive world of employee recruitment and retention.

And, finally, as you look for ways to shore up your bottom line in the coming year, take a fresh look at our value-added products. From business insurance to electricity; natural gas to fleet fueling; and even background checks on prospective employees, our offerings are specifically designed to save you money and help your business prosper. Check out the full list of opportunity on our website.

By most accounts, we are approaching the end of the year with a strong economy, a challenging workforce environment and political winds that continue to churn. Your Chamber wants to be sure we're doing all we can to ensure your continued success in 2019 . . . and that starts with ensuring you are aware of what's ahead and up-to-speed on what's available.

Please take advantage of the opportunity.
