At the Center: Tax Reform
December 2017

Hello and welcome to a special edition of At the Center.

There's a lot going on this week and I wanted to come to you with a special message soliciting your input, awareness and involvement.

It starts with Tax Reform. As you know, as of last week, the House and Senate have now both passed historic tax reform legislation overhauling our nation's tax code for the first time in more than 30 years. Work now begins on reconciling the two proposals with hopes of developing a consensus bill by year's end.

Throughout the process, we've had the opportunity to share feedback with Senator Toomey and Congressman Smucker in roundtable discussions. And, we've been greatly appreciative of their willingness to hear the business-take on the impact and opportunities associated with the legislation.

But, please know, it's not too late for you to weigh in; in fact, we are encouraging it.

Please take a look at the proposed reforms and let Senators Toomey and Casey and Congressmen Smucker and Meehan know your thoughts. Using our Action Center, you can see the latest update on the process, the potential impact of the proposals and links that allow you to contact your elected officials directly. Visit, lancasterchamber.com, the Advocacy, then Action Center to get started. And, to state the obvious, do it today!

Tax reform will also be one of the topics discussed at this Friday's "Economic Forecast Breakfast," sponsored by Fulton Bank. As in year's past, I invite you to come and hear Equity Market Strategist Linda Duessel, Federated Investors, Inc, and Dave Hanson, Fulton Financial Advisors, share their predictions and perspective on the economic year ahead. The event starts this Friday at 7:30 a.m. at the Convention Center, and you can register on-line at lancasterchamber.com/events.

Lastly, I also wanted to bring to your attention to one other event that we're hosting this week. Tomorrow, Thursday, our Wake Up to the Issue series will feature Mayor Gray reflecting on his time in office, followed by brief comments from Mayor-elect Danene Sorace. The program is sure to give you a solid overview of the City's recent past, coupled with opportunities for the future. Again, you can register on-line at lancasterchamber.com/events.

A full few days ahead for sure. I hope you can carve out some time to participate and help you, your business and our community.

Until next time, stay informed, stay engage and stay with us At the Center.
