Tis the Season to Th!nk Local
December 2011

Hello. And welcome to At the Center.

While these video messages are typically focused toward your business, today I would like to broaden that audience to include you as an individual, as well.

My message? Think Local.

My hope is by now you have some awareness of this campaign. The Chamber launched the initiative at our Business Expo and we -along with our partner organizations have been promoting it through our collective memberships and in television, radio and newsprint ads.

And the message is simple. Before you make a purchase -either as a business or an individual-we ask that you Think Local first. That's it.

Make yourself aware of all the local opportunities to grow and expand your business or find just the right holiday gift for that person on your list. By taking one extra minute to give it some thought, you will be amazed at what you can find right here in our own backyard. From Ephrata to Elizabethtown, Columbia to Quarryville and Lancaster to Lititz, we really do have an amazing business community that deserves our support.

And while you find those excellent, unique and local products, services and gifts, you can purchase them with an extra sense of community when you realize that your purchase:

Keeps local people employed;
Supports a local, tax-paying business;
Recirculates money in our community; and, Builds stronger, local relationships.

While our message is intended as a year-round mindset, there is no time you can personally make more of a positive impact with your purchases than during the holidays and, for that reason, I specifically ask you to Think Local this holiday season. Instead of randomly searching the web for gifts, how about starting your on-line search with the Chamber membership roster? You may be surprised at what you find.

On behalf of all of The Chamber staff, Happy Holidays and here's to working together toward a prosperous New Year for all our local businesses.
