What You Need to Know About the Banking Industry
July 14, 2010

Hello. And welcome to At the Center.

No matter how hard we might try to shake it, all eyes continue to remain focused on the economy these days. Are we past the recession, coming out of the recession or heading into a double-dip recession are all questions I hear people talking about all the time.

As a businessperson, you are particularly aware of the fragileness of the current state of the economy and you are likely working over time trying to figure it all out.

Your Chamber wants to help you figure it all out…at least with one part of the uncertainty.

On July 29, The Chamber will be hosting a Banking and Financial Forum, sponsored by Janney Montgomery Scott, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the new Doubletree Resort Lancaster at Willow Valley.

As we all know, the banking and financial industries have been subject to many challenges, reforms and conditions in recent times, and it's important that business leaders are aware of the current state of the banking industry.

At our Forum, you will have a unique opportunity to hear directly from an industry expert and local bank presidents on the national and local outlook for obtaining credit, on the effects of regulatory reform and on future challenges to industry –challenges that could directly impact your future economic health.

We are pleased to launch this inaugural Forum at a time when businesses need it most. And we are appreciative to our bank partners, Fulton, Wachovia, Susquehanna and Graystone for participating in the session and willingness to share their insight.

By gaining a better understanding of the local banking and financial markets, you will be able to better navigate these challenging times on the road to recovery. We hope to see you there.

Until next time….stay informed, stay engaged and stay with us…At the Center.
